Today is the death anniversary of Lt. General Kanwar Bahadur Singh , MBE a distinguished soldier who saw action in the Second World War and was taken prisoner by the Japanese .He rose to be the GOC-in- C of the Central Command.He was also Colonel of the Kumaon Regiment from 1961 to 1971. Post retirement he served as Lt.Governor of Himachal Pradesh in 1967, his tenure coming to an end with the attainment of Statehood in January 1971.He died this day in 2007 aged 97.
