Today is the death anniversary of Naushad Ali or Naushad for short, one of the most respected music directors of Hindi cinema. During more than five decades of his chequered career, he created many milestones in film music. Mostly known for introducing classical music in the films, he was also the first to employ western notations to Indian film music. He composed music for hit movies like Mother India, Baiju Bawara , Mughal-e Azam, Aan ,Deedar, Deewana, Amar, Kohinoor, Shahjahan, Sohni Mahiwal, Ganga Jamuna, Son of India, Mere Mehboob, Leader, Mela,…….and many others. He also got stalwarts like Amir Khan, Bade Ghulam Ali Khan & D V Paliskar to sing for his compositions.
The trio of Naushad, Shakeel Badayuni and Muhammad Rafi wove magic together. Naushad was also a producer and produced three movies - Maalik, Udan Khatola and Babul.
He was also an acknowledged Urdu poet and shayar.
He was a recipient of Padma Bhushan, Sangeet Natak Academy Award & Dadasaheb Phalke Award.
