Today is the birthday
of Manoj Kumar aka Bharat Kumar, the leading actor of yesteryears who later
turned to film direction . Born Harikrishan Giri Goswami this day in 1937 in Abbotabad, now in Pakistan , he was a
lead Romantic hero with both talent and good looks.Also known and remembered
for his stellar performance in 'Shaheed' in which he played the role of Bhagat
Singh, he acted in many hit films like Hariyali Aur Rasta,Himalay ki gode
mein,Pathar ke Sanam , Banarsi Thug Suhaag aur Sindoor,Do Badan, Gumnaam, Sawan
ki Ghata, Upkaar, Pehchaan , Poorab aur Paschim ,Roti Kapda aur Makaan ,
Kranti. etc.
He is a recipient of Padma Shri which was awarded to him in 1992.
