Today is the 70th birth anniversary of Eknath D. Solkar, the Indian Cricket all-rounder. A left hand batsman and a left arm bowler, he was also a wicket keeper for team India. Acknowledged as the best short forward leg fielder, the catches taken by him resulted in the first Test win against England at Oval.
He played in all formats of the game viz Test, First Class and ODI. He also played County cricket in England.
He died in 2005 aged 57.
