Today is the death anniversary of Company Quartermaster Havaldar Abdul Hamid, PVC, who laid down his life in the Khemkaran sector during the 1965 war only after destroying a number of enemy tanks single handed.
He was awarded Param Vir Chakra , the highest gallantry Award , posthumously for this rare act of valour .
